It's A Beautiful Morning!

 It's A Beautiful Morning!

Actually, it's afternoon, but who's counting. I am doing my happy dance!!

I dare you to search for "Happy Dance" on you tube. It's there.

So ... why am I soooo excited? Well....

They tested tumor markers on Friday. I just found out that ALL, let me repeat, ALL tumor markers are within normal range. My chemo is working!! On one, I went from 95 a few months ago to 32 now. YES!!

I am also having issues with random swelling in my calves and feet periodically. They were swollen on Friday when I went in for chemo. I didn't even notice. But, I've been seeing the same PA for the past several visits and she had noticed swelling in the past .... so she checks. Sure enough..... swollen again.

I went in for an ultrasound today on my legs to rule out blood clots. First, I didn't know chemo can cause blood clots. Nice little fact to keep tucked away. Second, to do this test you have to take off your pants (not your panties). Good thing I wasn't wearing my exercise leggings cuz I go commando in those suckers! I am too old to be embarrassed and the gal doing the test has probably seen it all. Still, glad I didn't have to test my theory on what she has and has not seen.

I don't know the name of this particular test but it is not fun!! As part of the ultrasound, they push down .... hard ... in the crease between your groin and your leg. It was very uncomfortable and made me catch my breath. It also caused my right hip to cramp. They do this all the way down your legs. The only part that was really uncomfortable was the groin and behind the knee.

Anyway, I got the results already. No blood clots! Yay! Of course, my legs and feet weren't swollen today either. Typical.

One rant though. I went to a hospital to take the test that is fairly close to home but not one I am familiar with. I look it up online, jot down the address and note that the hospital is in an area I know fairly well. Time to leave for my appointment, I enter the address in my GPS and off I go. Now, to be fair, I know how to get the general vicinity, so I really just wanted my GPS to guide me to the exact location. I drove around for several minutes looking for the hospital in the area, all the while my GPS is recalculating my route. I finally give up and decide to follow my GPS. It takes me in the complete opposite direction. I end up at a storage facility!

Calm down. Get out your phone and call the hospital. Arg!! No phone. I ran off without my phone. So I headed back to the area that the hospital should be in. I see an urgent care facility. Desperate and running out of time, I went in and asked about the surgical hospital they were affiliated with. I was only blocks away. In my earlier ramblings, I turned too early thinking I had already passed it up. Turns out, it was only two blocks from the urgent care facility.

Whew! I made it on time. I had to wait for someone else to check in ... he and the clerk were going down memory lane. Once that little trip was over, she started the check-in process. While I was going through the tablet and initialing, accepting, or signing something (22 places ...22!!), the gal doing the test came out to get me. Lucky me... get to the hospital, park, check-in, get taken back, start my test. No waiting, well except for memory lane.

I ordered and received compression socks that go up to my knees on the advice of the PA. I feel so old.

Anyway, today was a GREAT day!!  PET on October 9th! Stay tuned!

  1. Great news about the tumor markers! Bummer about the swelling. Try a magnesium bath. That might help.
